Jeanne Walker Harvey is an award-winning children’s book author of picture book biographies: Ablaze with Color: A Story of Painter Alma Thomas (winner of the 2022 Northern California Book Awards – Children’s Literature Younger Readers, NAACP Image Award Nominee, Jane Addams Children’s Book Award finalist), Else B. in the Sea: The Woman Who Painted the Wonders of the Deep, Dressing Up The Stars: The Story of Movie Costume Designer Edith Head, Maya Lin: Artist-Architect of Light and Lines, My Hands Sing the Blue: Romare Bearden’s Childhood Journey, and The Glass Pyramid: The Louvre Museum and Architect I.M Pei (Summer 2025).

Harvey has also written two popular picture books about marine mammal rescue stories, Astro the Stellar Sea Lion and Honey Girl The Hawaiian Monk Seal, and also the iconic San Francisco Bay-inspired picture book Boats on the Bay.

A graduate with distinction of Stanford University and UC Davis King Hall School of Law, Harvey has worn many job hats, ranging from roller coaster operator to long-time docent at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
