For more than 30 years, bestselling children’s book author Jeanne Walker Harvey has delighted young minds with her engaging storytelling designed to connect inquisitive children with inspiring role models.
Harvey’s award-winning picture book biographies centered on themses of art, science, and perseverance, include: Ablaze with Color: A Story of Painter Alma Thomas (winner of the 2022 Northern California Book Awards – Children’s Literature Younger Readers, NAACP Image Award Nominee, Jane Addams Children’s Book Award finalist), Else B. in the Sea: The Woman Who Painted the Wonders of the Deep, Dressing Up The Stars: The Story of Movie Costume Designer Edith Head, and Maya Lin: Artist-Architect of Light and Lines.
Her latest, The Glass Pyramid: The Louvre Museum and Architect I.M Pei, was published in mid-2025

A graduate with distinction of Stanford University and UC Davis King Hall School of Law, Harvey has worn many job hats, ranging from roller coaster operator to long-time docent at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
