Students Day For Elementary Schools

Celebrating community, literacy, and inspiration

First in 2024 and again in 2025, the Sonoma Valley Authors Festival expanded the reach of its popular Students Day programming to include author presentations in elementary schools across Sonoma Valley.

In 2025, bestselling children’s book author Jeanne Walker Harvey spoke to more than 600 students at five local elementary schools, and SVAF gave away more than 1,000 copies of Harvey’s books.

In addition, thanks to the generosity of the author, 1,000 copies of Mellody Hobson’s personal finance book for children, Priceless Facts about Money, were distributed to local students in grades 4 through 8.

Participating elementary schools include:  Prestwood Elementary School, Flowery Elementary School, Sassarini Elementary School, Kenwood Elementary School, El Verano Elementary School, The Presentation School, St. Francis Solano School, Woodland Star Charter School and Sonoma Charter School.

The elementary school programming was made possible in part by grants from Community Foundation Sonoma County and Sonoma Valley Education Foundation as well as individual donors and family foundations.
